Orthodontics In stockport

The Mall – Stockport uses two different systems to help patients achieve straight teeth and a winning smile:  clear aligners from Invisalign, or tooth-coloured brackets and wires from Quick Straight Teeth, both of which use state-of-the-art digital planning tools for your treatment.  Patients really appreciate this, because they can see how they will look with their new smile before any treatment is begun.

After the first visit for a consultation, subsequent visits will be every four weeks and each visit will be short.

Invisalign Clear Aligner System

There is no need to use metal braces to straighten your teeth.  Invisalign is a clear aligner system designed to be quick and often going unnoticed. It is the most widely used across the world, helping millions of patients improve their quality of life through their smile.

Invisalign gently, accurately and efficiently moves your teeth little by little, gradually creating the look and feel that will transform the way you feel about your teeth.

Quick Straight Teeth™

QuickStraightTeeth™ is also a system which gently straightens your teeth and does so by using nearly undetectable braces. This is in stark contrast to the traditional image of braces as train tracks, so you’ll be very surprised to see that they are not obvious and actually look good.  The brackets and wires are made with high quality materials in a tooth colour, and for the six months or so that it takes to complete the treatment, most people won’t even realise that you’re wearing braces.

There’s something to suit everyone with QuickStraightTeeth™, which is one of the most widely used orthodontic systems worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Adult orthodontics concentrates on straightening the ‘social 6’, which are the front 6 to 8 teeth, with the aim of producing a beautiful smile  This is often referred to as cosmetic orthodontics because it doesn’t include straightening the back teeth or correcting the bite.

The focus for adult orthodontics is to enhance the smile, so the back teeth are left largely unmoved.  Treatment is carried out within the confines of where the teeth are in position already. Children’s treatments always attempt to align the teeth at the back as well as at the front so that the perfect bite is created.

The cost is between £2000 and £4500. The cost varies with the choice of product and the complexity of the problem.

If teeth are uneven or out of alignment, restorative options may be needed to achieve the final result, in addition to the alignment. Usually, no further work of this nature is required, but it is worth mentioning. In most cases, restorative options are not necessary.

There are two options, the first being to use fixed braces which are tooth coloured.  These work quickly and resolve complex spacing and crowding issues more so than clear aligners.

Clear aligners are the second option, such as Invisalign, which uses very thin, clear plastic shields to gently reposition teeth. Sometimes, tooth-coloured buttons may be used to direct forces correctly.

Both systems are safe and result in a winning smile.

Your first consultation with a dentist will include an examination to decide your suitability for adult orthodontics. Photographs and impressions are sent to our laboratory to create a digital image of how your teeth will look when the treatment is finished.

The second consultation, when you have seen the image,  will help you decide which type of braces you prefer, before these are custom made for you – then fitted by your dentist.

This is how your teeth are kept in position after treatment. Without it, your teeth might tend to revert towards their original position.

There are two types: One is a fixed retainer, a very fine metal wire bonded to the back of the teeth to hold them in position. We ask you, in addition, to wear a clear, removable retainer at night to retain your smile.

There are other treatments but they are often more destructive. Cosmetic bonding can improve the shape and position of the teeth. It is minimally invasive and doesn’t usually change your natural tooth structure.

Veneers and crowns can be applied to improve your smile, but because it involves drilling away much of the tooth, it is not a reversible treatment. It is, admittedly, a quick method but at The Mall, we advise that you preserve the natural tooth whenever possible, so as to provide a longer lasting as well as a healthy result.

Absolutely brilliant I would highly recommend. All the staff are welcoming, friendly & reassuring. I needed to have a wisdom tooth & 1/2 of another tooth (previous dentist disaster). I was nervous but really had no need to be.
